Lucky for you, we are here to help you so you can have a beautiful smile of which you are proud. If you are diagnosed with periodontal disease, the first thing we have to do is a thorough cleaning. We will scale all of the tartar off your teeth and underneath your gums.
You may also need to use antibacterial mouth rinse after brushing to help fight the bacteria in your mouth. There are also times when periodontal disease is so bad that we have to perform surgery, placing pockets of antibiotics in your gum. Some people need to take oral antibiotics to get rid of the disease.
Once the disease is under control, it is important to maintain the health your teeth so tartar and plaque don’t build back up. Daily brushing and flossing go a long way to keep tartar from building up. Rinsing with an antibacterial mouthwash is also helpful.
Routine visits to your dentist, along with professional cleanings, are necessary to keep your mouth healthy. We will monitor your mouth and gums for any sign of the disease to make sure that if it comes back, we catch it early so it is easier to treat.
